The 75.6-meter-high tower of this Baroque church, a project from the Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni, can be spotted from most parts of Porto and was the tallest building in the country when it was completed.
A true piece of art and the work of human genius.
Eat Porto´s most famous dish” Francesinha”
It’s the city’s most famous ritual and you can´t visit Porto and leave without trying this famous dish. It is a delicious calorie-busting, artery-blocking, monster meal: the Francesinha.
Somewhere between a toasted sandwich and gluttonous meat burger, sausage, and ham, slathered with gooey melted cheese, doused in a tomato-based sauce, and topped with an egg (in case you hadn’t had enough protein yet!) and served up with some crispy hot chips. And very spicy. you must pair this delicious dish with a beer (or several, it´s your choice). It’s a very democratic food since it is appreciated by everybody.
Watch the sunset at Jardim das Virtudes
Sunsets in Porto are absolutely magical. If you are enjoying the city’s center and need a place to relax, you have the Jardim das Virtudes, a beautiful historical garden facing the Douro River, and wine cellars. It´s a perfect place to enjoy the end of the day.
A lot of young people come to this beautiful place, to catch some sun and watch the sunset while drinking a beer or a glass of wine from one of the cafes on the street.
From here you can enjoy a privileged insight into the entire Jardim das Virtudes, but most of all the picturesque rooftops of Portuguese houses built down the hill.
Enjoy the simple things in life and just let yourself get lost in this view.
Explore the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal
The Jardins do Palácio de Cristal (Crystal Palace Gardens) is a delightful park in Porto, designed at the end of the 19th century. A beautiful place that will make you travel in time. Go there and watch the peacocks, walk through the rose gardens and admire different varieties of trees, and elegant fountains.
It’s actually a mosaic of small gardens that open up little by little as you wander – as do the stunning views of the city and Douro River.
The park is also home to a domed sports pavilion, the public library Almeida Garrett, and the Museu Romântico (Museum).

It has a varied and vast collection of Portuguese artists (especially those from Porto).

Casa da Música was built to celebrate the year when Porto was the European Capital of Culture, in 2001. It is one of Port´s leading cultural venues, designed by the distinguished Dutch architect and urbanist Rem Koolhaas.
When Casa da Música was built it was very controversial, and the inhabitants of Porto used to hate it because of its bold architecture, but nowadays we made amends with Casa da Música and we can´t picture Porto without this beautiful monument.
The building is designed to host all types of music – from classical to electronic, jazz to fado, major international productions to small-scale experimental projects.
